Description
AirForLife® is a purpose-designed emergency escape device which provides the user with a self-contained oxygen supply (22 litres) to aid in the escape from incidents such as an indoor fire or terrorist gas attack. In the event that escape is not possible, the device enables the user to safely breathe for a more prolonged period whilst awaiting rescue by the emergency services.
AirForLife® consists of a conveniently-sized, pressure-resistant, aluminium container of cooled, high-purity, breathable oxygen. It is fitted with a conformable mask and tubing to enable continual delivery of the oxygen to the mouth and nose, whilst preventing the ingress of smoke or dust from the surrounding environment. The canister contains a specially designed adsorbent which enables a much larger volume of oxygen to be stored and delivered than could be otherwise stored using compressed gas alone.
The mask contains both particulate and chemical filters to provide further back-up to the user’s survival, enabling breathing to be continued without inhalation of smoke or toxic gas. The canister valve has a large flow orifice and the flexible tubing has optimised strength and dimensions to allow for maximum flow during operation. This permits the user to take a reassuring ‘gulp’ of oxygen, if required, during a potential panic situation. The AirForLife® canister is labelled with succinct, easy to understand, operating instructions to avoid ambiguity and undue delay during the emergency situation. The security-sealed, durable, outer packaging offers guidance and instruction on what to do in a fire situation. AirForLife® is designed to be returnable, after the expiry date, for inspection and testing to ensure continued fitness for purpose.
The AirForLife® Family Pack consists of four AirForLife® packages, each containing 22 litres of oxygen in a 66 x 220 mm canister with flexible tubing (0.875 m) and conformable mask fitted with smoke and chemical filters, each in an outer package.
